During the development of the Dermaglide® microdermabrasion system, concerns arose over the potential health risks associated with the use of aluminum oxide crystals. Aluminum Oxide has been documented to irritate the skin and throat, cause scratchy eyes, allergic reactions, respiratory problems and in some instances produce low-grade fevers. In searching for safe alternatives, we experimented with various possible crystal mediums. This allows for treatment at lower vacuum levels on thinner tissue, such as under the eyes, without traumatizing or stretching the skin with the suction of a high vacuum level.


The Dermaglide® microdermabrasion system uses a mix of gentle abrasion with suction to remove the outer layer of dead skin cells.
